CAMRA’s Beer Knowledge by Jeff Evans

CAMRA publish some good books and the new Beer Knowledge book by Jeff Evans is the perfect stocking filler this Christmas. Packed full of interesting facts, dates, lists and more this book would keep people in the loo twice as long with if it was left next to the toilet seat. Retailing at £9.99 the 155 pages of facts include highlights such as a list of the Champion Beers of Britain, The Railway Tap Revival, list of everyone in the London Brewers Alliance, Britain’s Most Consistently Good Beers and more.

There is even a wonderful bit about The Leyton Orient Supporters Club, under the “Twelve Really Unusual London Beer Venues” which was submitted by Des De Moor. It reads, “Leyton Orient Supporters Club – Top-Class cask and bottled beers served at a friendly, volunteer-run football stadium bar, though you’ll need to check the opening times and present a CAMRA/EBCU card if you are not a member. If closed, try the Leyton Technical in a lavish former town hall and college just up the road”. I’m really happy to see that included, thanks Des!

Did you know? Ethiopia has two brewing football teams who go head to head, Harar Beer Bottling FC and their rivals Dashan Beer, I do now! Did you know? That JD Wetherspoons uses 46 million free-range eggs every year? I do now! Did you know that Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has the most breweries in the state per 100,00 adults 21+? I do now!

This book would make a great stocking filler or Secret Santa gift, check out CAMRA’s bookshop for more details. It is a great bit of bed time reading…

Disclaimer – I was given this book for free to review, but I don’t think that has changed my opinion, it does keep me on the bog twice as long!
