Keeping it real … Real Ale
I wouldn’t usually do a post like this, it could be left for booking.com and TripAdvisor reviews, however the standard of apartment, service and price is too good not do a small review on a possible place to stay while enjoying the beers of Bruges!
Ever since renting an apartment in Brussels for the Brussels beer festival in the summer I have looked at city breaks completely different, I wouldn’t use hotels no more because apartments are so much more comfortable and I think makes for a better break. You can cook your own breakfast and prepare lunch for the day which will save you money on constant restaurant visits.
For me and my other three travelling companions Apartment La Gare was the choice of accommodation for the Bruges Beer festival. Hans the owner was great help from booking to checking out and it seemed there was nothing he couldn’t do to help you.
The place itself is even bigger than the photos looked, it’s smart, stylish and had every thing we needed and more! It features two bedrooms with double beds with a balcony for both rooms facing the courtyard and train station. There is also another huge balcony at the front of the apartment facing out to Bruges. Everything you can think of that you might need was here, towels, hairdryer, toiletries, enough cutlery to put on a dinner party, sauces, cooking oils, games, bluray player, massive HD telly with hdmi ports and British TV channels.
The place was huge, not only could you fit four people in the bedrooms there was easily enough space for another two people to sleep on the sofa!
It is literally next to the train station! So it only takes you minutes to get there and you also have a shop and bar right next to you too so all your needs can be bought there! Being so close to the station also means that it is only a 15 minute walk into the centre of town.
The toilet (bullshit Blvd) wall featured a chalkboard where everyone who had visited could leave their messages (mostly thanking Hans for all his help! And I also noticed a message up there from fellow #beerbuddies at www.bottle-shop.co.uk who had also made the great choice of accommodation while in Bruges!) and there was also a map to pin where you was from, was which was cool!
You can book the apartment via all the usual big booking names and it’s somewhere I will always check first to see if it’s available when staying in Bruges! Thank you Hans! Below is a short video of the apartment also!
